Korean BBQ “secret sauce” for chicken wings revealed. Mystery solved.
Ingredients (serving 2-4)
2.5lb chicken wings
1/2 onion, chopped
Marinate: 1/2 onion, 3tbsp Soju or Mirin. 1tbsp soy sauce, salt and pepper
Sauce: 1tbsp sugar, 1tbsp minced garlic, 3tbsp soy sauce, 2tbsp mirin, 5tbsp BBQ sauce, 1.5tbsp oyster sauce, 4tbsp corn syrup
1tbsp corn starch, mixed with 2tbsp cold water
crushed peanuts for garnish
1. Blend onion and mix with cleaned chicken wings with other marinate ingredients. Preheat oven to 180C/350F. Bake marinated chicken for 30-40minutes. Flip once.
2. Meanwhile, mix sauce ingredients. Add chopped onion and oil into a wok and stir-fry over medium-high heat. When onion is soft, add sauce mixture and corn starch water. Mix and let it boil.
3. Then add baked chicken, mix with the sauce over low heat. Sprinkle crushed peanut.
